Lize van Niekerk
Lize is a Chartered Counselling Psychologist with over 20 years’ experience in the field. She provides psychological assessments and treatment for adults who present with a range of psychological difficulties, such as depression and anxiety. Lize uses evidence-based therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). She also draws on other psychological approaches such as Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) principles.
Lize graduated with an M.Soc.Sc in Counselling Psychology from the University of the Free State, South Africa, in 1998. She is a member of the British Psychological Society and is also registered with the Health and Care Professions Council.
Lize has previously worked with the South African Police Service, an NHS Occupational Health Service and an NHS Specialist Trauma Service. This has led to Lize developing areas of specialist interest in psychological trauma treatment and supporting clients with work-related stress management.
