Principal Human Factors Consultant
James is an Ergonomics and Human Factors specialist and an experienced incident investigator.
James began his professional career with the UK Health & Safety regulator, performing Ergonomics and Human Factors work across a range of industries and providing expert evidence to support investigations. James then moved into the Oil & Gas industry in Norway, where he worked as a Human Factors specialist on projects before moving to a corporate role as investigation leader.
James’ extensive investigation experience has incorporated process incidents, fatal accidents, and security incidents. In 2013 James was a member of the Norwegian investigation team following the terror attack on the In Amenas facility in Algeria, a major international incident where 40 people were killed during a three-day hostage situation. James has also investigated cases of professional misconduct and cases of bullying and harassment.
James specialises in human factors in investigation, causal and human error analysis, and human factors in the design of workplaces and systems of work.
James holds a BSc in Psychology and an MSc in Ergonomics from Loughborough University.
