Training for Human Factors in Procedures

Poorly-developed or poorly-presented procedures have been linked to numerous incidents and are frequently cited as one of the main causes of major accidents. The Keil Centre's 2-day “Human Factors in Procedures” course provides a structured approach and set of design principles to improve the quality of procedures within an organisation.

Our training course is based on human factors best practice and research and guidance produced by the UK Health & Safety Executive (HSE). Via a combination of theory and practical elements, delegates develop a good appreciation of human factors in relation to procedures, which is followed by the application of techniques for analysing tasks, and drafting and reviewing written procedures specific to their organisation. The course also demonstrates the disastrous effects of failing to take into consideration human factors when developing procedures.

Who is it for?

This training is ideally suited to those who prepare, manage and/or approve written procedures. The emphasis is on operations, maintenance and emergency procedures, rather than corporate administrative procedures.

The 2-day training course aims to:

  • Provide an awareness of human factor principles related to procedure development and design
  • Enable delegates to prepare and evaluate procedures for compliance with human factors best practice relative to their organisation

Each delegate will receive a delegate pack and memory stick which will include the teaching material, practical exercises, worked examples and templates for future use.
